Mecklenburg County announced that beginning July 1, the Mecklenburg Transportation System will no longer take seniors and disabled residents to government or nonprofit organizations; hair salons and barber shops; financial institutions; faith-based organizations; and fitness centers. Incumbent Dan Bishop, elected in 2022 in a district that did not include any Mecklenburg voters, is not running for re-election. His website lists district offices in Monroe and Salisbury, but not office hours. In November 2024, some Meck voters nearest Union County will be voting in the 8th.
