Dr. Betty Howell Gray brought to the Forum today the work of educators who are committed to increasing parent engagement in local public schools.
The local chapter of the National Alliance of Black School Educators has a forum coming up on Saturday, Aug. 12. The Q&A allowed Forum participants to explore not only that event, but whether such an event is even liable to move the needle in a community of a million people where few people show up for events, no matter how big their budgets.
Dr. Gray provided a number of handouts at the session including: a news release, a flier and registration form, requests for volunteers and donations, and a letter explaining the August event.
The video below captures the main presentation and the Q&A. The presentation begins at minute 9:17. The Q&A begins at minute 38:50.
As it becomes available, a portion of the announcements section of the meeting will be posted below. During that more no-holds-barred discussion, there was more talk about parents, charters and the factors behind low student achievement.
