District 2 school board member Thelma Byers-Bailey said she did not have the votes to fully reverse the Great-Recession decision to create underfunded, unequal K-8 schools on the westside.
But she predicted that money would be moved around within the upcoming school bond proposal to allow for the rebuilding of West Charlotte High School on its existing footprint, with students not required to abandon the site during reconstruction.
Bruns Avenue will be returned to K-5 status, with middle schoolers going on to Ranson Middle. And Byers-Bailey said the Bruns building would also be rebuilt.
