I-77 express lane project: An update

Warren Cooksey and Jean Leier are staff. They tread carefully around all policy issues. They just outlined the rationale and plans for construction and operation of toll lanes in Interstate 77 from Mooresville to Charlotte.

The previous evening, the Town of Cornelius had issued a plea for delay of plans to give the private company Leier represents a 50-year contract for control of the primary automobile commuting corridor from north Mecklenburg and Iredell County into Charlotte. Instead, state officials said they would proceed.
