It may be something of mismatch – experienced former officeholder vs. newbie, old vs. young – but at least the voters of District 1 have a choice on whom to elect to represent them on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners.

They may be the envy of voters in Districts 2, 3, 4 and 6 this year. Vilma Leake, George Dunlap, Dumont Clark and Bill James face only the outside possibility of upset by write-in.

On the day when the Forum called for candidates for contested seats for the county board, Jim Puckett and Leonard Richardson from District One made presentations and took a stab at every question they were asked. District 5 contenders Art Cardenas and Matthew Ridenhour did not attend. If they make presentations at subsequent Forums, a link will be placed here.
