Oct. 29: Main Library at 310 N. Tryon to close at 5 p.m. Replacement facility’s opening expected in late 2025. Library services uptown will camp out at Founders Hall, 100 N. Tryon Suite 290, and at First United Prebyterian’s fellowship hall, 406 N. College St. More info here.

Nov. 6: Ribbon cutting 10 a.m., grand opening 3-6 p.m., movie night until 9, for the city-owned open space to mark “The Ritz,” the last movie theater built in Charlotte exclusively for African Americans, which closed in 1971 and was later demolished.
