Today’s Forum focused on a set of overlapping families that have left a mark on Charlotte’s struggle for freedom, justice and equality for all. If viewers of the video below cry out for a graphic showing how the family trees intertwined on Charlotte’s west side in the 20th Century, perhaps one of the number of record-keepers in these families will help us all.
For now, listen for stories of segregation, racial injustice and violence – but also of privilege, persistence, higher education, economic stability and the embrace of neighbors in the McCrorey Heights neighborhood north of the Johnson C. Smith University campus.
