The writer was Democratic candidate for U.S. House District 9.
Last night, we did not get the results that we had hoped for. Even though this news is tough, I’m thinking about all that we have accomplished together.
We focused on issues hurting folks in this district: jobs with a living wage, affordable healthcare, quality education, and broadband access. We adapted to a global pandemic by transitioning to safe ways to communicate with our constituents. We provided them with PPE at a time when it was scarce. We offered hope in a time of darkness. We received overwhelming national support from Democrats across the state, country, and even the top of the ticket. We moved the ratings in this race twice, making it more competitive than most people believed possible.
Those are our victories this evening, and we never could have accomplished them without the overwhelming assistance of grassroots supporters like you.
I’m so proud of this campaign, and I can’t thank you enough for your support. It has been an honor to work on this campaign with you.
Though this didn’t go our way, rest assured that we must continue our fight to bring rational and compassionate leadership that is needed to heal the partisan divide.
Warm regards,
Cynthia Wallace
