Filling in some of the gaps in the westside ‘news desert’

February 25, 2020 Community & Housing

Katrina Louis, managing editor of QCity Metro, and Emiene Wright, hired to help launch QCity Metro’s Westside Connect media project.

Feb. 25, 2020

There were no first editions to hand out at the Forum this morning. But there was great interest in the developing story of Westside Connect, a new media venture on the west side of Charlotte. There were also people in the room hopeful that they could link Katrina Louis and Emiene Wright to stories from and about an underserved area of Charlotte.

And Louis and Wright were all ears.

QCity Metro is a for-profit company with a digital presence in Charlotte for more than a decade. Westside Connect is a multi-platform media project under Glenn Burkins’ QCity Metro umbrella that is launching with initial grant support from the Knight Foundation.

In the video below, the presentation begins at minute 11:45. The Q&A begins at minute 19:33.
