Kris Chambers Woodruff sent this message to the Forum:

“In an effort to represent the community that gave me life, I have decided to seek the appointment to the vacant City Council District 5 seat.

“I thank all those in the community that has supported me. I would like to extend a special thank you to Karen Geiger and Nakisa Glover for your guidance and help.”

The seat is open because John Autry resigned upon his election to the N.C. House.

The Charlotte City Council plans to vote on the vacancy later this month.
