Engaging youth to undertake neighborhood improvement

April 12, 2016 Community & Housing

April 12, 2016

Robert Dawkins of SAFE Coalition NC and Tamika Lewis of The Tribe met with the Forum to describe their work on engaging adolescents in neighborhood improvement, starting with improving their health in ways that can convince them that change is possible, and in ways that are measurable so that funders and others can be convinced as well.

Dawkins provided two documents. One was a flier for a Jail to Justice Summit scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20. More about that event is here.

The other was a copy of a grant proposal to support the work discussed. In an e-mail after the Forum, Dawkins wrote, “The good news is we think that we will be receiving $18,000 in funding from the initial planning and 2 pilot projects within the next week.”

Video from the session is in two parts.
