Sept. 29, 2015
It was billed as an appearance of the Democratic candidates involved in the Oct. 6 primary for Charlotte mayor. Dan Clodfelter attended, but Jennifer Roberts had a previous commitment and did not attend. John Powell, a GOP candidate on the November ballot for an at-large seat on Charlotte City Council, joined Clodfelter at the speakers table.
The focus was on Clodfelter: whether he’d promised to run; why he’d led quietly after being appointed mayor after Patrick Cannon’s indictment and resignation; what he would do if elected on his own; how long he might want to serve.
But they tag-teamed on two interesting questions about key steps the city had taken to get where it is today, and what needed doing to shape its future.
The session was broadcast live on the Forum website, a first for the Forum. Videos from the session, which was almost entirely a Q&A, will be posted below as they are available.
