Portia Motsapi was one of nine young people who met Forum co-founder Sarah Stevenson two years ago when Stevenson was on tour in South Africa. The young people helped push Stevenson’s wheelchair, and hit it off with the longtime activist and educator. They dubbed her Queen Go Go. Stevenson in turn took a keen interest in their future, and challenged them to go to college. She promised them that, if they worked to raise money at their end, she would help raise money at her end to bring them to America for a college education.
By summer 2015 two of the nine young people were committed to make good on Stevenson’s challenge. First to arrive is Portia Motsapi, who came to the Forum to thank those who had supported the effort, through prayer or donations or whatever, to make her dream come true.
Motapi is enrolled for her first semester freshman year at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.
