Willie Ferrell, brother of Jonathan Ferrell, and their mother Georgia Ferrell addressed the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Forum today before court reconvened Tuesday morning in the volunteer manslaughter trial of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Randall “Wes” Kerrick.

Kerrick is on trial in the wrongful death of Jonathan Ferrell during a encounter with Kerrick and other officers in 2013.

The family arrived after the Forum had begun, with presentations by candidates for Charlotte mayor. As this video opens, mayoral candidates David Howard, Edwin Peacock, Jennifer Roberts and Dan Clodfelter and others are seen welcoming the Ferrells and standing aside from the speaker’s table. At the conclusion of the Ferrells’ comments, the Forum resumed with a Q&A of the candidates.

Georgia Ferrell’s comments included a pitch for change through voting. She also explained why she was carrying a plush Pooh.
