A star in the West

June 25, 2013 Education & Health

He’s lived here before, selling ads for two Charlotte radio stations. This time, he’ll be making waves of a different kind.

Allen Smith and his family have just arrived, but he asked to address the Forum this morning as a way to introduce himself to the community, to make his case for how to improve educational outcomes for children, and to face residents’ questions. There was all that at the Forum, and there will be lots more across the community in the months ahead.

Smith plans to set up shop at the old Amay James Recreation Center, in the heart of the community he will serve.

Smith brought along a set of sheets listing the 22 schools he will work with. That PDF is here.

Below as they become available are videos of Smith’s visit at the Forum. The first video includes almost all of his introductory comments. Thereafter are excerpts from the Q&A that followed his presentation.
