In-person meetings are postponed during the coronavirus pandemic.

Since Jan. 19, 2016, the Forum has had in-person meetings at the Belmont Regional Center at 700 Parkwood Ave..

The Forum is a public meeting held in a public place, and is open to all. Members of the media are welcome, and television crews are accommodated as best as the space will allow. News crews: As a courtesy, please identify yourselves to the day’s facilitator.

Forum meetings have been videotaped since 2011, and livestreamed since October 2015. Videos are available in this website’s Archive and are stored at this site or at YouTube. Since March 2020, livestreams have been archived at Facebook, while the meeting portion of the livestream is archived on this site.

A fast wi-fi connection is available at the Belmont Center meeting room. These instructions are designed for Apple and Android devices.

For first-time users, the wi-fi connection will not show up automatically on your device. Go to Settings. Tap on Other. Type in as the name the word CharlotteGuest, all one word and case-sensitive. Security type is WPA2. Password was reset as of Feb. 16, 2016 to Connect28202. Tap join. Spectrum subscribers may also find a Spectrum hotspot within range.

Overview of Meetings

The Forum begins around 8:30 a.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. Coffee is available. First-time attendees are regularly invited to introduce themselves. After the speaker’s presentation, a question-and-answer session follows.

For decades, the Forum has then turned to announcements. Anyone present may stand and offer information about upcoming community events or milestones. A video of these announcements is made for the scribe’s use in transcribing the announcements. An e-mail summarizing those announcements, along with announcements e-mailed in advance, is sent to those who have given the Forum their e-mail address. Most announcements made since 2007 are archived here. If you would like to offer your announcement but cannot attend a Forum, send it in.
