Weekly e-mails of Forum Announcements are compiled from material sent in via e-mail plus events mentioned during Forums. “Upcoming events” focus on public policy topics of interest to Mecklenburg residents that are open to the public. Announcements, December 16, 2014

The Forum next meets on Jan. 6, 2015.

Elisa Chinn Gary announced that her swearing-in as Clerk of Superior Court had been moved from a courtroom to the larger atrium of the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. The ceremony is Friday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m at 832 E. Fourth St.

Joyce Waddell left an invitation to join her for a reception following the swearing-in of members of the N.C. House and N.C. Senate. The reception will be held immediately following the 10 a.m. swearing-in on Wednesday, Jan. 14 in Room 1228-1327 of the Legislative Building in Raleigh.

Robert Dawkins sent in a link to his Agitator Radio interview with Ellen Dunbar from the US-Africa Working Group on Ebola.

Dena Diorio sent in a copy of her Dec. 15 Board Bulletin.

Ledger Morrissette sent in an invitation to nominate people for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Medallion Award, presented annually by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee to individuals in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community who exemplify the ideals of Dr. King. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 5.

Daisy Walker sent in an appeal for proctors to help in West Charlotte High School’s January round of end-of-course testing. Light breakfast will be available for proctors. Info here.

The Black Political Caucus sent in a flier for its Chair’s Open House on Sunday, Dec. 21 from 6-10 p.m. at The Morehead Inn, 1122 E. Morehead St. Details here.
