MeckEd,  the education advocacy nonprofit that dates from a 1991 merger of four nonprofits, announced that it would cease operations Aug. 31. Its website has been removed from the Internet. More from WFAE here.

Rosie O’Rear invited all to join the Guardrails, a local group associated with Indivisible Charlotte, has been gathering to “make good trouble” with signs each Thursday from 8-9 a.m. at the Allegra Westbrooks library, 2412 Beatties Ford Rd., “urging motorists to support Democracy. We are exercising our right to free speech, urging our government to remain fair and just, and to protect our right to vote.”
