Council DIstrict 1: Anderson, Henderson square off

August 5, 2025 Candidates & Ballots

From left; Danté Anderson, Charlene Henderson

Aug. 5, 2025

Two primary candidates offered Forum participants today a host of information about how different they are from one another.

One way is by consulting their LinkedIn pages and their ebsites, listed below. Another way is through their answers to questions specifically asked. Here is a list of some of them, paraphrased:

  • What does world class mean when people use the term to describe Charlotte?
  • What can neighborhoods ask for from the Corridors of Opportunity project?
  • How will the transit tax prevent displacement via gentrification?
  • Many people will not take transit because it’s not safe. What can be done?
  • What will you do to mend strained relationships with other members on a council where everything takes six votes?
  • Name the needs of other neighborhoods in District 1.
  • How can city ensure that Crescent neighborhoods share in the windfall to come from transit line build-out?
  • What will city do for children who are not affluent?
  • While nonprofits that help people struggle, council has earmarked $25 million for NASCAR?
  • What has been the impact in other cities of a similar sales tax hike for transit?
  • What’s your plan to improve life in currently unsafe neighborhoods?
  • Newcomers are everywhere. What in your view is Charlotte known for?
