Today’s presenters have had much to do with helping minority contractors find their niche in Mecklenburg private and public construction projects.
Young people: Listen to the stories from the presenters. Listen to the many successful minority contractors who spoke during the meeting. These are people who have learned what it takes to turn dreams into stable, often very lucrative lifelong occupations. They have learned from one another, supported one another.
Carol Lilly helped create a consulting business 40 years ago focused on identifying and then nurturing Black contractor success. Stephane Berwald Joyner, a Native American-Lumbee who worked for Lilly for years and then opened her own firm, served for 11 years as president of the Metrolina Minority Contractors Association.
