Five of the seven candidates in next week’s Democratic Party primary for four at-large Charlotte City Council discussed affordable housing and other issues this morning. There was from the presenters’ table an unusual amount of commentary, particularly from incumbents seeking re-election, that Council can and must do a better job bird-dogging city implemention of Council policy. Examples ranging from failed budget forecasting to code enforcement to contracting were offered to illustrate the need for the next Council to focus more on follow-through.
Present for the discussion were candidates Dimple Ajmera, Julie Eiselt, Jorge Millares, James Mitchell and Braxton Winston. LaWana Slack-Mayfield and Chad Stachowicz did not attend.
In the video below, presentations begin at minute 8:13. The Q&A begins at minute 23:13. Candidate James Mitchell arrived late and participated in the Q&A but did not make an opening statement.
