5 candidates, 4 offices on Sept. 12 primary ballot

September 5, 2017 Candidates & Ballots

From left: Robert Mitchell and Larken Egleston, running in City Council District 1; Wil Russell, running in District 4; Scott Jenkins, running in District 5; and Joel Ford, the N.C. senator running for mayor.

Sept. 4, 2017

The final candidates forum before the Sept. 12 Charlotte primary drew five candidates running for four different offices. There were two of the three District 1 City Council candidates in the Democratic primary; one of four candidates in District 4; one of six candidates in District 5. Joel Ford attended, having missed the Aug. 29 Forum when his three primary opponents appeared.

So while this Forum presentation won’t necessarily help voters judge among the candidates on the ballot in each race, there’s much to learn below about individual candidates.

Early voting ends Saturday, and polls are open Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

In the video below, presentations begin at minute 13:06. The Q&A begins at minute 28:53.
