CIAA staffers describe operation, upcoming tournament, outreach

January 12, 2016 Growing Business

Jan. 12, 2016

The small staff of Charlotte-based CIAA manages dozens of operations each year. But they are gearing up for one of the larger such operations: the CIAA basketball tournament.

In a presentation this morning, two staff members described how the organization is set up, and what’s involved in the annual tournament. During the Q&A they listened and took notes as a number of Forum participants offered the staff members historical information on how the tournament came to Charlotte. Other Forum participants pressed for more information on how minority-owned firms could participate in the overall economic activity brought to the city each year.

Presenters for the CIAA were Sherie Gordon, CIAA senior assciate commissioner for external and business administration, and Marcus Clarke, senior associate commissioner for championships and events.

Below is a video file that begins with their self-introductions and includes the full Q&A.

Technical issues prevented Gordon and Clarke from showing presentation slides that they had prepared. The slides are below the video, and may be downloaded here as a PDF.
