Terrell Ivory grew up in Charlotte and graduated from North Meck High and Davidson College. During one year in that span, he was a student at an institution nearly as old as the Declaration of Independence.

And on Tuesday he was at the Forum explaining his work recruiting minority young people to that school, Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts, and his work inspiring urban youth to take advantage of opportunities they’ve never had anyone tell them about.

Below is an edited version of the tale from today’s Forum that includes Ivory’s presentation and then the questions directed his way during the Q&A that followed. Ivory shared the speakers’ table with County Manager Dena Diorio and three members of her staff.
