Doing right by children in crisis

March 19, 2013 Education & Health

March 19, 2013

Principal. Minister. Counselor. Doctor. Police officer. Judge. Probation officer. Lots of specialists can be involved with a family whose child is in emotional turmoil.

Listen as some of the experts describe the “System of Care” that it takes to succeed for the good of the child, family, and community.

Participating in the session were Dr. Trasha Black, clinical director of Genesis Project 1, Inc.; Paul Risk, Mecklenburg County Director of Youth and Family Services; Dr. Ryan Kilmer, UNCC professor of psychology and lead evaluator for the System of Care Collaborative; Bobbie Jo Cloud, System of Care lead trainer at Genesis Project 1 Inc.; District Court Judge Lou Trosch, who spends most of his time on juvenile court cases; and Irma Robinson, a parent leader and co-chair of the System of Care Collaborative.
