The Judge Charlotte Brown-Williams-Tracy Hanna Hewett contest

October 16, 2012 Candidates & Ballots

Oct. 16, 2012

Twelve lawyers are running for six contested District Court seats in the November election. This page is devoted to material on the contest between Judge Charlotte Brown-Williams and Tracy Hanna Hewett.

Judge Brown-Williams appeared on Oct. 16, Ms. Hewett on Oct. 23. Because they appeared at different Forums, they were asked different questions. Below, as they are available, will be videos of their statements and answers to questions.

Also below are reprints of material on the two candidates contained in a 2012 voters guide published by Democracy NC.

Opening statements

Question Oct. 16: A disproportionate number of African-Americans are being sentenced to jail. What can you do about that?

Question Oct. 24: What would you do to help close gaps among ethnic groups?

Question Oct. 24: Can you tell us what a “conservative” judge is?
