Larken Egleston announced an open house at Eastway Middle School on Thursday, March 30 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at 1501 Norland Rd.

Yolanda Holmes announced a need for volunteers for the Charlotte Career Discovery Day on Thursday, April 20 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Park Expo, 800 Briar Creek Road off East Independence Boulevard. To volunteer, see Holmes or attend a 30-minute volunteer orientation session on Monday, April 3, with sessions beginning at 9, 9:30 etc. through 11 a.m. and from 3, 3:30 etc. through 5 p.m. All will be held at Smith Family Center, 1600 Tyvola Rd.

Victor Mack announced the annual Julia Robinson Mathematics and Computing Festival on Saturday, April 1 at UNCC, aimed at middle school girls interested in STEM-related activities. Flier here. Online here. Mack said onsite registration Saturday would be accepted.

Jarrod Jones announced a “Hear Me See Me” workshop to counsel parents and leaders on how to “craft their messages they wish to deliver to elected officials, employers, and large crowds of people in general.” Two sessions will be held, Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m. and Monday, April 3, both at the Project LIFT office, 2324 Lasalle St. Flier here.

Advance Carolina distributed a petition on seven issues, including affordable housing and living wages.

Gary Young sent in an announcement that he will run for Charlotte City Council in District 5.
