ANNOUNCEMENTS from Nov. 12, 2013:

Harold Winston announced that the Sign of the Times jazz ensemble would hold a free concert on Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. at C.N. Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1421 Statesville Ave.

Nancy Carter announced that Democracy North Carolina has a wallet card detailing changes in N.C. law affecting voting.

Louise Woods announced that a group called Charlotte Neighbors (born Facebook January 31, 2011) is supporting community schools in diverse areas, and will speak at the Nov. 12 school board meeting urging the board to create magnet choices to draw parents into, rather than away from, neighborhood schools. Louise Woods announced a concert by the Charlotte gospel group Voices of Gratitude on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Rd., following 5 p.m. spaghetti supper. Tickets are $10, $6 for children.

Carlenia Ivory announced on behalf of Heath Morrison his thanks for community support of the school bonds during the Nov. 5 election.

Curt Beatty announced that the bond referenda were approved with majority support in every precinct. He said the city would have bonds on the ballot in 2014 to finance the capital improvement plan.

Sarah Stevenson asked for prayers for Franklin McCain, who is in intensive care at Mercy Hospital.

Tommie Robinson announced that his studio will have a grand opening in February but that it's already open for holiday purchases of his artwork.
