Cooperating agencies seek support to serve students' needs

April 21, 2009

Staffers from a family counseling agency and an afterschool service provider briefed the Forum Tuesday on their efforts to interest Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in using the Positive Action character education program. From left, Henry Black of Genesis Project; Rhonda Blackmon of Joy Within Enrichment Center; and Dr. Trasha Black of Genesis Project. Positive Action provides kits that can be used in a variety of settings. Dr. Black said that Genesis Project would pilot the program at Crossroads Charter School this fall. She also said that even if CMS was not interested, Genesis would provide the program to interested community or other groups. The Blacks provide community service through a nonprofit Family Wellness Center.
