Stories from Inauguration Day streets
Feb. 10, 2009
Ken Koontz gathered together a film crew and covered the stories on the streets of Washington during Inauguration Day.
He was at the Forum Tuesday showing video from that effort. DVDs containing a selection of the coverage made by the film crew will be available at the Forum on Feb. 17.
In one selection, footage of Barack Obama's swearing-in was woven into archival shots of violence on the Pettus Bridge during the Selma-to-Montgomery civil rights march, and of one of Martin Luther King Jr.'s last speeches before his assassination.
Another focused on a celebration of King Day at a District of Columbia church. Another focused on vendors on the streets on Inauguration Day.
Koontz owns WENS-TV, an Internet-based video service. Some of his video reports
from Washington are
posted
there.
