Elyse Dashew announced that N.C. Parents Advocating for School Health is encouraging county health departments, school districts, commissioners and lawmakers to add school nurses until they reach a standard ratio of one nurse per 750 students and one nurse in every school. Zack Hill announced a last computer class before the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 1-3:30 p.m. at Ivory Baker Recreation Center, 1920 Stroud Park Court off Oaklawn Avenue. Classes will resume Jan. 12.

Malcolm Graham announced that his inauguration to a new term in the N.C. Senate would be held in Charlotte on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 4 p.m. in Biddle Hall on the Johnson C. Smith University campus. More details will be available next week.

In answer to a question, Elon Homes board member Carlenia Ivory announced that Kennedy Charter Public School is in discussion with Johnson C. Smith University about partnerships between the two educational institutions.

Carlenia Ivory announced a concert Sunday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m. at Varick Conference Center, 3165 Zions Renaissance Lane, to raise funds for the Sarah and Sammy Stevenson Endowed Scholarship Fund at Johnson C. Brandi WIlliams sent in an announcement that Project L.I.F.T. will hold a free community meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. at Thomasboro Academy, 539 Bradford Drive, to review the community feedback through previous meetings and a survey. Staff will present information to the CMS school board on Jan. 8.

Dorothy Brown Jackson sent in an announcement that the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg will hold a Chair's Open House on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 6-10 p.m. at its headquarters, 1326 Woodward Ave.
