Sarah Stevenson announced that longtime Forum participant Mary Brooks
was doing better and hopes to be home soon from Charlotte Health Care
Center, the nursing home where she has been staying since a recent
hospitalization.

Donna Dawson announced the death Sunday of Stephanie Jennings,
supervisor of the conflict management section of the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee.

Donna Dawson announced "The Dancer," a dance production this Saturday,
Nov. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at Crossroads Charter School, 5500 N. Tryon St.
Troupes include the Blue Satin Dance Team of J.C. Smith University,
Crossroads Charter Dancers, the Louise Thompson Dancers and the West
Side Fine Arts Program. The production was written by Najla Work, a

Michael Sexton sent in an announcement that the Reimels Dental Group in
Huntersville is participating in Give Back a Smile, an anti-domestic
violence program founded by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Participants receive whitening treatments in exchange for a $225
donation to the Academy's foundation. The foundation supports
reconstruction of teeth destroyed during incidents of domestic abuse,
scarring victims who do not have access to such reconstructive surgery.

Nancy Carter announced that Anthony Foxx had declared his candidacy for
Charlotte mayor in next year's city elections. "This is the sun coming
up... this is a new day in Charlotte," she declared.

Thomas Moore announced that Forum participant Pam Jefsen, head of the
American Red Cross Charlotte chapter, was featured in the fall issue of
"Intersection," the quarterly magazine of the Myers Park United
Methodist Church, where Jefsen is a member.

Sarah Stevenson announced that she and Thomas Moore had addressed a
class at Queens University of Charlotte Karen Neal aon the subject of
racial forgiveness.

Sarah Stevenson welcomed back from "sabbatical" Polly Little and Angeles
Ortega-Moore. Said Little, "I've been away praying for regime change and
it worked." Ortega-Moore said she had gone back to school at Queens for
an MBA and has one more year to go. She introduced Bill Garcia, a board
member of the Latin American Coalition.

Rd. in Pineville, and Jerry's Supermarket at 4227 Statesville Rd are
collecting canned goods to benefit Mecklenburg County Community Support
Services and the veterans, homeless and domestic violence victims they
assist. WGIV will broadcast live from Jerry's in conjunction with the
food drive this Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Other sponsors

Monday, Dec. 1 marking World AIDS Day. Metrolina AIDS Project hosts "The
Essence of Leadership" from 9-11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1401
Allen St., a discussion of leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS. At
that event there will be a special tribute to the late County
Commissioner Valerie Woodard to acknowledge her leadership in the fight
against the disease. Then the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network (RAIN)
will hold events at noon at The Square and at Covenant Presbyterian

Interfaith Choir that will participate in the 33rd Annual City-Wide
Interfaith Thanksgiving Service sponsored by Mecklenburg Ministries.
