L.I.F.T. may not use year-round calendar at all 9 schools, official says

Nov. 13, 2012

During an update on Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Project L.I.F.T. program this morning at the Forum, Project L.I.F.T. community coordinator Brandi Williams said the group could decide to implement a longer, nearly year-round calendar at some Project L.I.F.T. schools but not all of them.

Williams' comments are in the video on the front of this website, when she was answering a question about a survey.

Williams encouraged Forum participants to take the survey, whose online version is here.

But adults who do not have children enrolled at L.I.F.T. school will find doing so difficult:

The first page of the online survey forces survey-takers to chose from "parent," "staff member" and "both parent and staff member." The second page requires the survey-take to select one of the nine schools as the place where "your child(ren) currently attend."

During her presentation, Williams provided Forum participants with three handouts:

Program list. A three-page listing of programs operating at L.I.F.T. schools, and contact info for each program.

Calendar comparison. A one-page document on which the possible longer-year calendar that could operate in the L.I.F.T. schools is superimposed on the approved CMS calendar for 2013-14.

Palm card. Both sides of a card listing the project's goals and appeal for public support.

Williams said during the Forum that she might send additional material in response to questions that she could not immediately answer. Any material will be posted here.
