A Prayer Memorializing Mary Elizabeth Anthony Brooks
Tuesday Morning Breakfast Forum
Tuesday 2 December 2008
By Vernon M. Herron, D. Min.

We gather here today to acknowledge Thee as our sovereign God and to worship Thee as creator, the sustainer of values and the giver of every good and perfect gift.

In like manner, we memorialize and cherish the memory of your creation, known to us as Mary Elizabeth Anthony Brooks and adopted as your child and a member of the royal household of God.

We remember her as a co-founder and a long supporter of the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Forum, many humanitarian causes, a teacher of moral and spiritual values, a family builder and a civic participant. Thank You for her insights, commitments and her efforts to make this a better world.

We are grateful for her endurance level which reached out to a sustaining God, when in the midst of pain and suffering, and declared that "God's grace is sufficient." Thank You for that faith, though pressed by every foe.

Sustain and bless her family, her lifelong friend Mrs. Sarah Stevenson, and all who knew and worked with her.

It is difficult to be separated by death, for here, we give up the "known" for the "unknown," we miss long associations, great achievements and even trailblazing journeys, but thank God for the journey and Your sustaining grace.

We seem to give her back to Thee, dear God, who gavest her to us. Yet, as Thou did not lose her in giving, so we have not lost by her return. What Thou givest, Thou takest not away; for what is Thine, is ours always, if we are Thine. Life is eternal and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

Mary Elizabeth Anthony Brooks is only sleeping. Oh, for the friends and loved ones gone on, we should neither sigh nor weep; all of their pains and sorrow have gone; sweetly they sleep.

Only sleeping, calmly sleeping, safe from the world's alarms; only sleeping, sweetly sleeping, safe in her dear Savior's arms.

So now we'll be done with the troubles of this world,

The troubles of this world, the troubles of this world.

So now we'll be done with the troubles of this world.

I'm goin' home to live with God.

No more weepin' and a' wailin'

No more weepin' and a' wailin'

No more weepin' and a' wailin'

I'm goin' home to live with God.

No more pain in my head,

No more pain in my back,

No more pain in my legs,

I'm goin' to live with God.

No more hugs from Dr. Herron,

No more hugs from kin,

No more hugs from Malachi,

I'm goin' to live with God.

 No more hugs from Sarah,

No more Tuesday Morning Breakfast-es

No more hmmmmm

I'm goin' to live with God.

I'm goin' to live with God.
