Announcements for Dec. 6, 2011

 

Sarah Stevenson announced that the Forum's Dec. 20 Christmas Party will feature a full breakfast for $5, music, games, music from the McCreesh Place Tuned-In Choir, and the ever popular Take-A-Gift. Scour your garage and attic and bring with you on Dec. 20 some gag and "just-what-I-always-wanted" gifts, to be shared during Take-A-Gift. There will be no Forums on Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

Queen Thompson asked for help distributing this flyer about how a youth's arrest, even if the youth is innocent, can create barriers to education or employment.

Vivian Mitchell announced that she had $35 tickets for the MLK Prayer Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 16 at 7 a.m. at the Westin Charlotte. AME Church Bishop Vashti McKenzie is keynote speaker.

Andrea Huff announced that for a Feb. 2 fund-raising lunch at the Westin Charlotte, McCreesh Place seeks table captains who will recruit seven others to attend the free lunch. Info: See Huff.

Patricia Webber announced that a referral service for elder care services, to be named Eldercare Buddy, would soon open in Charlotte.

Thomas Moore sent in an announcement that his last day as choir director and organist at Caldwell Memorial Presbyterian Church would be Sunday, Dec. 11. "The church is celebrating my three years of service during a short service of songs and tributes beginning shortly after the [11 a.m.] morning service."

Kim Roseboro sent in an announcement of a Friends of Firm Foundations Meet & Greet Business social, "the holiday edition," for Wednesday, Dec. 14 from 6-9 p.m. at Kalu, 505 E 6th St.

Announcements for Dec. 20, 2011

 

Sarah Stevenson announced that the Forum would resume on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012.

Joel Ford announced that Men Who Care Global would train on Friday, Dec. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at the Carole Hoeffner Center, 610 E. 7th St., in preparation for monitoring duty on New Year's Eve from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. uptown "to make sure [all young people] have a good yet safe time uptown."

Joyce Waddell announced that residents of school board District 6 who would be willing to be appointed to the vacant District 6 school board seat should complete paperwork available on the CMS website here and submit it by the Jan. 2 3 p.m. deadline.

Patrina Reddick left an announcement of the Rizing Starz Boot-Camp 2011, an arts and education conference for youth ages 4-15, scheduled for Tuesday through Friday, Dec. 27-30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Spirit Square, 130 N.
