Mitchell offers his views on how Charlotte lost the CIAA tourney

January 8, 2019 Community Matters

Jan. 8, 2019

James Mitchell was scheduled to speak about something else on this morning after the CIAA announced it would take its tournament to Baltimore. But in this excerpt from the Forum captured by Jessica Davis, Mitchell addresses the issue of the day.

In this telling, the city’s bid to keep the CIAA was not what it could be because some people really did not want the CIAA in the city. Mitchell points fingers in several directions, but also notes that because of how the city operates with its state-authorized visitors authority, citizens had no way to monitor or speak up on details of the city’s bid.
